All In

Every Wild Card, on every world, has been invited to one table. The stakes: everything. On the hundred-and-fiftieth day, a staircase of light rises out of the infield of PNC Park. At the top is the Table of All Hands: a card table the size of a city, with a seat for every Wild Card who ever wrote a rule into the world. The game is called All In. Each player brings one card, made from the thing they want most. The heaviest ask wins. And the Deck itself, the power that dealt every Shuffle and every monster on every world, has put the whole of what it is into the pot. Hospice nurse Theo Marsh has thirty-five days to get ready. First he has to go to Akron, a city where a grieving principal's rule means nobody can leave, not even the dead. He has to read a letter from Kansas, where a kind widow's rule means nobody ever wants to. Then he has to climb the stair and face the Auctioneer, a velvet-voiced Wild Card from another world whose rule is simple: Everything has a price. He has already bought ten thousand people. Theo can't outbid him. He doesn't have the cards to win. So he's going to do the only thing he has ever been good at. He's going to ask. Inside you'll find: A city-sized card table, thirty thousand Wild Cards, and a three-round auction for every world A villain who buys people, and the dead who refuse to be sold Abe's lock, Cassie's cranes, Doris the Mire Titan, and the whole Home Field crew The dayroom stands up, with bodies, for one last hour Ruth Abernathy's window The finale of the first arc, and a door to the next world Book Five of The Last Draw.
