Checkmate Protocol

EVERY MEMORY IS A MOVE. EVERY MOVE HAS A PRICE. Three players have vanished near the edge of the Bonefields. Alan Kade, a veteran guide with six years of hard-won experience, takes the search expecting a rescue. What he finds instead is a network of ancient tunnels that should not exist, a wounded stranger who cannot remember his own name, and a fragment of memory that makes the stranger flinch at a single word: Rank. Beneath the surface lies Sha'lir, a hidden city of silver crystal skies and quiet streets, where everything is decided across a board. In Kesh, a game of positions, domains, and calculated sacrifice, Rank decides who is respected, who is protected, and who simply disappears. The rules are never explained to outsiders. Break one, and the city does not forgive. With a sharp-minded archivist, a reckless inventor, and a man whose past is being stolen one piece at a time, Alan must learn to play, build alliances in a city that trusts no one, and uncover who profits from the memories that vanish into the dark. Because the ruler of Sha'lir does not lose games, and he has been waiting for challengers like this one. If you enjoy: - LitRPG and GameLit adventures with real stakes - Chess-like strategy where every move matters - Hidden cities, political intrigue, and a mystery that deepens with every chapter - Found-family teams with sharp banter and hard choices, then Checkmate Protocol is your next move.
