Dead Water

When a fractured radio transmission warns that something new and far deadlier than the infected they already know how to fight has taken hold along a distant coastline, Harlan and Juno leave behind the alliance they helped build to find out why. What they uncover is worse than either of them feared: the plague spreading across their drowned world was never an accident. It was built, on purpose, by people who never stopped running the program even as it consumed everything around them. The source lies deeper than either of them expects, through a ruined research facility, a crystalline consciousness that remembers everything the program destroyed, and finally to the doorstep of the woman who built it all.
