A thousand years is a long time to sleep through the end of the world. Corin Bellard, a structural engineer, and Elin Cassel, a systems researcher, are trapped by a lab accident in a sealed research sublevel on the night a silent, planet wide catastrophe ends civilization above them. A stasis field meant to hold for a few hours instead holds for a thousand years. They wake to a city gone entirely to forest, and to a bond neither of them chose: the deep stasis field has tied them permanently to the Undersong, a dormant machine intelligence buried beneath the ruined tower. It grants Levels. It grants Skills. It offers no explanation, no mercy, and no way to say no. Survival means learning fast. The Vacant City is not empty. Feral, degenerated threats called the Wasted stalk its overgrown streets, dangerous in ways no engineering degree ever prepared Corin for. But the real danger waiting beyond the ruins is human: a fortified settlement built on hoarded resources, quiet cruelty, and one man's absolute control. What Corin and Elin build in answer is not a weapon. It is a community. Levels After the Hush follows the long, unglamorous, genuinely earned work of turning two frightened survivors into a settlement worth defending, tracked with a full LitRPG System: Levels, Skills, Threat Ranks, and a rare double progression track where the characters level up alongside the settlement itself. Every anchor placed, every alliance built, and every hard council decision carries real weight, because the people paying for it are never abstractions. If you love LitRPG stories with genuine settlement building, dual progression systems, morally grounded conflict, and a slow burn partnership built on competence and trust rather than tropes, Levels After the Hush is your next binge read. The Undersong is waking up. So is everyone still left to answer it.
