Jake survived his first year in Thornhaven. Champion Forty-three, holding at thirty percent soul integrity, has learned to read the code beneath the magic and stay one step ahead of deletion. Then Sarah wakes up in the City Square — Champion Forty-four, a software engineer pulled from Earth just like him — and Jake realizes he's not training a rookie. He's watching his own first year happen all over again, and he doesn't have a year to give her. Someone is rewriting the rules faster than either of them can learn them. When a moderate Church bishop is murdered by a spell wearing Jake's own credentials, the fragile Coalition he built shatters overnight. Framed for a killing he didn't commit, hunted through Precursor sewers by automated Purge units, Jake uncovers a frame job that goes deeper than one dead bishop: the Archive itself is manufacturing evidence, arming zealots, and clearing the board for a full server wipe. The endgame is the Nullifier — an anti-artifact built to delete reality itself — and a descent into the Source Code, where every failed Champion before Jake is trapped in an endless, glitching loop of their worst death. To reach the Architect and earn the one thing that might save Thornhaven, Jake and Sarah have to survive a firewall built from their own memories — and Jake has to offer the only currency the system actually wants: himself. Administrator privileges aren't a finish line. They're a debt, to a world with no support contract, and to an operator above the Architect that neither of them has met yet. In a world where magic is code and death is deletion, how do you debug a god that built the bugs on purpose? For fans of dark progression fantasy, system exploitation, and protagonists who fight with code instead of swords.
